hi guys…there is a question for anyone who watch shaping 101… and using the same mathod of making the rail… “how do you make fred”??
nice straight piece of 3/4 ply(no twist or warp) cut at a 30 degree angle. Tage 2 short sureform blades and skrew then in oposite directions so it cuts both ways. I used a skill saw and the cut is ok but I would try to get hold of a table saw for a cleaner result.
a good picture always helps
hi… i cant receive your picture of fred… can you please send it again to me… thank you…
man, thats weird. The pic was there yesterday. This site baffles me sometimes.
Here’s a link to the page. Its on the “foamez” site if the link doesn’t work.
Howzit headhigh, I can see the picture just fine and it looks just like a fred I made for a shaper friend years ago. Aloha,Kokua
Is it a 30 degree cut from horizontal or vertical? I remember a previous fred post from a while back, and the person stated they changed the cut to 60 degrees, but their 60 could be someone else’s 30 depending on how you look at it.
Fred cuts at 30 degrees. That way when you run it along the bottom of the rail and the side of the rail you get a consistent 60 degree angle.
Nice Job.I had one but gave it away. Two passes with the planer did a better job for me. RB
