Free Heavy Duty Bubble Wrap for Travel +

Found a great source of bubble wrap. Most kayaks come shipped in long sleeves of bubble wrap that is a heavier duty than most. Kayak dealers throw it out by the dumpster load. I had a guy yesterday towing a trailer of new kayaks in front of me that I called and he was so glad to have someone have a use for the stuff that he actually dropped some off at my house! I use it just like glassing a board. Cut it with oversize laps on the rails top and bottom; sandwich the board inside with double coverage on the rails; tape up to the wide point with duct tape which will be permanent and the rest with cheap masking tape which is where you open it up on arrival. If you want to cut it into strips for extra rail padding - roll the bubble wrap up and cut it with a hack saw blade at the width you want. The great part is that you end up with reusable custom wraps for every board you might travel with. Am just finishing a new 7’-9" cruiser that will be christened in Costa Rica next month that I now have FREE padding for.
