cal- lay your blank on the stand bottom side up and open the depth adjustment knob all the way- utilize the very corner of the tail of your blank- make a cut approx 1 1/2’’ on that corner- bust out a ruler and measure the depth of the cut- simple- also an owners manuel should give you a good idea of depth of cut. my owners manuel said 1/8’‘- well, i tried what i have explained above and found that my plane(HITACHI) removed 3/16’'…
Assuming that your planer is set up right you can lay a a good straight edge along the bottom of base and measure down to the front shoe with it set to full cut.That dimension is the depth of cut. R.B.
