Friend of mine over at magicseaweed lost her bro in Iraq.
He was a surfer of 15 years and taught her to surf. She wants to take his ashes and give them back to the ocean, and for herself to reconnect with the sea through a hawaiian cicle, somewhere of the coast of the Uk, but does’nt know how to go about it.
can some of you help with this, she’d appreciate it.
Howzit swordie,Over here we usually get together and talk about our experiences with the deceased then paddle/ boat out to the area the person usually sirfed and spread the ashes and do a prayer. Then we go back to shore and have a party in the person memory.Aloha,Kokua
Google the Kauai Garden Island News paper for todays issue and there is and article about the spreading of Russel Souza’s ashes at P.K.'s
There’s alot of protocal behind the ceremony so you need to take care…
Kumu John Lake did my uncle Ted’s burial at Shark Country and aside from the pre-ocean cerimonies once you spread the ashes everyone is supposed to paddle to shore full speed never looking back out ot the ocean until you reach sand. It must mean something to have that kind of trust in the ocean.
Otherwise you’ll bring bad luck to your families and the departed soul
