I need some help with my shape have a 7’4 17x21.5x15x 3.25- this board is being shaped for a beginer and is a VI blank, is 3.25 to thick he is only 165. I was thinking the extra thickness wouldn’t hurt it would paddle and catch waves easy. Also the nose rocker is 4.75 and the tail rocker is 2.75 how do these sound for a 7’4.
I’d take off a 1/4" from the thickness and give it some nice full rails. Little square or diamond tail and tri-fins. Voila!
Don’t forget to paint it “Yummy Yellow”.
I’d even take a bit more off. If he’s a youngster & atheletic he will pick it up quickly and appriciate the thinner board. If hes an old guy and wants to learn…then he’s doomed no matter what thickness you make it. The size seems good, but I’d take the thickness to 2 5/8 - 2 3/4. 2 5/8 is better.
Ok i brought the thickness down to 2.5 with pretty full rail the nose thickness is about 1.25 at 12 inches down and the tail is about the same at 12 inches down. Nose rocker is at 5" and the tail rocker is at 2.5. How does this sound for this board and i think it should float a 165lb guy.
