Fixing a ding for a mate’s board. Compression just in front of side fin box and some glass lifting off box. It’s not a bad ding but I’m going to fill compression, sand hard and reglass whole area around the box. Question is: should I carry the glass around the rail or just leave on the bottom? I know doc, Jay, Kokus et al will have the guts on this one. Thanks in advance, Chris
Howzit bish, When they put the reenfocement patch on futures they don’t wrap the rails so just do it on the bottom, sounds like an easy fix, you lucked out on this repair.Aloha,Kokua
how about fixing a futures box ripped out of the board. I want to try to fix it myself and was just wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on fixing it
Howzit thesearch, A picture would be nice so we could see just how much damage there is. Aloha,Kokua
Howzit the search, Thanks for the pics, if you have a router just clean up the hole and resin in a piece of foam and reroute the hole with your futures jig and glass over it, hot coat ,sand and you’re done. if you don’t have a router then you can fill the hole with resin and cabosil or aerosil and before the resin kicks just float a new box in the mix to the right depth. After it kicks off you can sand the mix (very carefully ) down smooth around the box and glass over it. Just make sure the box doesn’t float up while the mix is kicking.Hope this helps.Aloha,Kokua
