futures SUP jig and bit install for handle

I just bought the futures SUP jig and router bit for the SUP handles. The router bit looks a little small for the actual handle peice. Are there any videos or testimonials around to help me with this.

Don’t install the handle in the blank before glassing, do it after hotcoat.  The reason is that the flanges on the handle tend to dig into the foam (no hard support) when the SUP is held by the handle.  If you put it in after hotcoat, it’ll have the glass to bear against instead of the foam.  I personally set them in a polyfoam for more security.  My son’s repair business had many failed handles this past summer which were all installed under the glass.

We do it this way.

Route hole

lay out cloth

roll back top cloth

X out first 2 layers fold x’s into cavitty, wet out flange area,

resin… in cavity.

insert box

cover with top layer.

proceed.

Glass over…under and all around.

very sturdy

Alright well heres the thing. I know to glass it after the hoatcoat pre sand. But the router bit they sold looks literally TOO small to work with the handle depth. (Handle depth size) > (Router bit)  I’ll send a pic.  It looks wacky.

Aha! Thanks to a helping hand Charlie, I got it all cleared up. It requires to use a futures box router bit.
