Hey I just got back from my honeymoon in Spain and I’m blown away by all the new board additions. You guys rock - the boards are awesome! This place is awesome! If it’s your first or 10,001 post it! You guys all make 'em look like they’re your 10,001! How’re they riding? Surfore
those last few longboards you mentioned are just beautiful. now i want to make one, and i’m wondering if my arms are long enough and if i’m fast enough with the squeegee. i plan to find out. this site has got to be the best thing that’s happened to novice builders since the close tolerance blank and UV resin. it rocks my world every day. hope you had a honeymoon for the ages, and if you can drag yourself away from your wife i’d love to hear your impressions of Spain. i’ve never been, but my family is from la isla in asturias, just down the coast from galicia- mundaka/menakoz and those places. ramon>>> Hey I just got back from my honeymoon in Spain and I’m blown away by all > the new board additions. thanks!!! as ramon said this place rocks, the people on here are so helpful! i’ve contacted most of the board builders in the uk for help, and not one will help out a board builder (part time), as they think you are suddenly gonna start pumping out 500 boards a year and take all there business! all i can say is thank s for all the help my first few boards have only not been oceanliners because of all the tips! thanks paul smith

We got a wonderful wedding gift from my wife’s uncle - two round trip tickets on British Airways which was the best flying experience I’ve ever had. They kick butt! We flew in to Barcelona (with a lisp of course) and spend four days there at a hotel right off the Ramblas. Barcelona is fast paced (if you can believe it) and a very cosmopolitan city. The architecture is beautiful, I really like Gaudi, and the shopping is excellent too. We ate at many tapas bars and drank a lot of Estrella Damm. The only thing that had me down was a bit of jetlag and an upset stomach from eating at midnight every day. From there we flew over to Mallorca and stayed just outside Palma. The hotel had a private beach so we were at the beach daily and in the Med to cool off. I found the food in Mallorca to be better than Barcelona. We ate ourselves sick but we walked so much that I barely gained a pound. There’s some really neat little restaurants down off la plaza that really did us well. There’s a really neat bar there decorated with lush, wonderful flowers and a huge fruit display. They only play classical music and that certainly set the tone for the drink prices - 12 Euros for a cocktail with rum and about 5 different fruit juices. Ahhhhh. Unfortunately the shopping on Mallorca was much better than Barcelona too. We did the tourist thing and took a bus to an old wooden train that took us to a farter eastern coast and then took a boat to a little beach that was so crowded I didn’t even bother to get comfortable. From there we took a hairy bus ride up through the mountains (on narrow, curbless roads that dropped off down cliffs) to a monastery (that had a nice bar). 10 days in Mallorca and I was thoroughly relaxed. I think we planned the trip at the right time as I understand it gets really crowded there in June, July, August.
Congratulations, sounds like you had a great honeymoon trip. Not one mention of surf either, I bet she appreciated that too. Thanks for the comments. Tom S.>>> Spain was great. This coast has so many bays wich give you protection from the wind, so many points and beach breaks, its fantastic. It has the greenest mountains small spanish villages with friendly people and it holds a treu diamant called Rodiles. You can camp out (sleep in your car) for free in the forrest, have a shower by the lifequard station and surf the most beautiful left in the cleanest water at a rivermouth of the villaviciosa wich is clean to. The water is so clear you can see fish swimming, a shorty in the summer and a 3 mm in winter wil do. Just, like every place you go, respect the locals. If you ever have the time/money GO dude. sounds like a great way for you guys to get started, and you went to the mediterranean side, which makes sense for a honeymoon. i’ve got to get over there one day! thanks for your response.
thanks Peter. you make me wish that my ancestors had never emigrated! i had posted on the mundosurf forum last year, and got a few nice responses from the guys there. they knew where la isla was, and they all mentioned Rodiles as a great spot. what are the best months to visit with surfing in mind? i don’t think i’ve ever been in sub 60 fahrenheit water before…
