Getting ready to start my first fish project

Hey everyone. FNG (____ new guy) here. First time board builder, so looking for all the guidance and help I can get. I’ve been reading about the blank types available. Do most of you use Clark Foam blanks or are you using expanded or extruded polystyrene or other? I want to shape an old school, traditional fish and want to know what you think of the Clark fish blanks. They look to me like they have a lot of rocker, but then what do I know. I’ll go with the majority opinion.

Thanks!

Jim

to reduce rocker simply lay the templater over the part of the board with the least rocker. Usually the tail. And to make getting it flatter easier if the blank has alot of nose rocker just be sure that it is thick enough to be flattened to a degree.

I’ve used only Clark Foam blanks the ‘superblue’ foam. I find then to be awesome. I shaped a 5’8" swallow-tail fish with a 6’6" blank, and i reduced the rocker by taking a little more off in the middle of the board…,peace
