Glass on fin GAP???

Hey again,

im about to glass on my first ply fins and am wondering, when setting the 6 deg cant, it will leave a small gap under the flat side of the fin, should i sand them back on an angle so they sit flush with the board?? i am going to use 5 min epoxy to tack them down before glassing, will this epoxy resin do funny things when glassing with polyseter resin??

Thanks in advance…

Tom

Hi Tomo,

I would’nt. I would fill that area with roving or rope when I glassed it on. You’re idea is elegant though. My personal boards are usually 99 percent finished before I ride them. There almost all personal boards. I often move or change the fins. When or if I really like it I finish off the little stuff. Mike

Thanks, Anyone know if poly resin will stick to the 5 minute epoxy glue im going to use to tack the fins on before glassing?

Cheers

As long as the epoxy is on the bottom of the fin, it’s not an issue.
