looking to glass on a homemade spitfire fin on my Mcoyish HWS board. 7.6 x 23 x 18 x16X 3 1/2. Got some info 5 to 6" off tail to offbalance the wide tail. I added a little harder edge on the rail than McCoy, but kept the planshape and outline. Will be surfing mostly shoulder to a few feet overhead point waves, not Indo crushers. I surf on the easy side, not a aggressive hopper, but love some speed and fun. I am over 50 and weigh about 225 on good days… Any help is appreciated to the newbie.
What are the dimensions of your fin? Base length? Fin height? As a glass on, you want to get the fin position as close to ideal as possible. The crucial measurement is the distance to the leading edge of the base, not the trailing edge.

While I await some work to come through to finance my next project from scratch (its been a month with no income - and counting...LOL), I have been doing some repair and renovation to this 7' egg.
I plan to do a glass-on fin as part of the work, probably something similar in shape to this one, it worked well with the board, but I think I'd like to go a little bigger. Since I'll be making my own fin, any suggestions to size shape and placement are appreciated. The board is for so. cal. point break surf.
