Looking for tips on fin placement and glassing the tail section especially.
I just got done glassing my second fish…From what I’ve gathered on here, for my two fish, which are 5’9" and 5’10", I’ve set the trailing edge of the fins 8 1/2" up from the tip (which is also how far up the butt crack goes) and just barely toed them in. On my second fish, I even canted the fins out maybe 3 or 4 degrees. The trailing edges of the fins are 1" out from the side as well. As for glassing the swallow, it’s kind of a learn-as-you-go type thing. Both of mine have had resin tint jobs, so I’ve been in swallow-tail-glassing hell, but they’ve both come out good. I just posted a thread on here called “2nd board almost done” or something like that, it has a few pics of my second fished that’s hotcoated and ready to sand.
