Glassing FCS tabs on fin

I’m making some plywood fins for my FCS thruster setup and was wondering what would be the best way to glass the tabs that are on the fin? I left enough base on the fin to cut out the tabs, but should I just glass over them with cloth when I glass the fin or would it be better to put some mold release into the plugs and use resin and glass rovings (thanks for the idea Lokbox) and set the fin into that?

Found lots of info on foiling and glassing in the archives but no info on how to do the tabs. I’ve got the template cut out and am going to foil it tonight. I’m just trying to think it all out in my head before I cut the tabs, so I know whether to cut them undersize to allow for glass or rovings. Thanks for any insight.

With such simple tabs as fcs I think it’s easier to just cut them out and glass over them. Remeber to under size the tabs before you glass them. just my $.02.

Håvard

don’t waste your time. The leverage that is exerted on the tabs is way more that you expect. They need to be of one piece material, incapible of being seperated from the fin.
