Just finished shaping my first fish and fancy having a go at glassing, can anyone tell me how to do the laps on the tail have heard of free lapping but havent got a clue what this is

I do the butt crack when I lam the deck by laminating rectangular patches in the crack before doing the deck. Mike

the two types of laps that I know of are free laps and cut laps
Cut laps are when the oposite side your glassing is taped off about 1 to 2 inches from the rail and the glass is lapped
over the tape (slightly) the cut at the tape line when the resin firms up.
A free lap is when there is no tape on the oposite side and the glass is just wraped around the board
cut laps are used when theres pigment or heavy weave cloth (such as volan ) on the laminating step
