I snapped my 6’1" about 5 inches from the nose. I don’t really want to put the nose back on the board, and I was thinking about just glassing over the end and trying to ride it. Does anybody know right off the bat that this won’t work? Peace!
sure it’ll work…but your drops might get a little tricky
I’m not too worried about that. Right now I’m mostly riding a 5’7" psuedo-fish with not much concave at all. Have to be super heavey on the tail to hold into steep waves. Besides, I’m not planning on riding it in super big waves, so I can take a few beatings till I figure it out. Thanks for the response. Peace!
Being as it’s what, 4" wide at the break and maybe a whole 3/4" thick? You’ll never notice the difference.
Though I might take a sander to it and round the edges over just a skosh for ease of glassing and such.
Back in the Day - Plastic Fantastic had a model called ( if memory serves) the Penetrator. Most were 6’6" to 6’8" or so and were nothing more than a gun-type 7’6" with the first 12" cut off and rounded some, for a fish-like nose with a kinda gunny singlefin body and tail. They worked just fine. Fast as greased eel …ahem… they were real fast…
hope that’s of use
doc…
I don’t have easy access to tools, would it work if I rolled up some plastic wrap in order to round off the end, and glassed over it? The most of this I’ve done is fix dings, so I don’t have much experience. Peace!
Ayeeeee - no, don’t do that. The plastic wrap will melt in the resin and dissolve and you will have this grotesque misshapen fiberglass bubble of discolored plastic snot. Trust me on this, it’s not gonna do ya any good.
Just get some coarse ( 60 grit ) sandpaper from your friendly neigborhood hardware store and figure you have an evening of sanding things ahead of you. That’ll also help make the glass stick on.
hope that’s of use
doc…
Yea, it was a suggestion from a friend, but I don’t htink they’ve ever done it either, so I figured I’d ask first, thanks for letting me know. Peace!
