Im coming to a close on a 7’4" board. Im trying two new things. One is a Quad fin setup and the second is fabric inlay. So here is the question, does this sound correct? I want fabric overlay on resin swirl. Should I glass the board on the deck with 4oz, and put the resin swirl in it. Then glass the belly with 2oz. with resin swirl. Come back with the belly frabric and glass a clear coat of 4oz. glass. Then cover the deck with my fabric and then come over it with a clear 6oz. glass. Will the fabric get any strength anywhere? Or should I look to just get my 6oz. on belly and double 6oz on the deck? Let me know. I have a sketch below of the idea, not the exact design but you get the idea Im going for. I have’nt picked the fabric of color swirl yet, maybe this weekend. Thanks for all the help. R
i dont really understand, do you want to have a two 6 oz deck and 6 oz bottom? you said glass the deck with 4 oz then do the inlay, then glass over that? you dont really get any extra strength from the inlay so you should still use two 6 oz on the deck if you want that strength.
usually an inlay is done on the foam. my 2 cents; i would do the resin swirl right onto the foam then put the inlay over the swirl and then glass normally with clear.
you want to let the resin cure on the inlay before you laminate over it.
Ya, I would figure a double 6oz. on the deck and another 6oz. single layer on the bottom. You answered my dilema though, I could just resin swirl right onto the foam and then do the fabric inlay over that. Then usual clear glassing schedule. Thanks this is why I go to this site, because you guys have all the answers and ones I would have never thought of. Thanks! Also, I would probably use laminating on everything so the glass gets a good grab right? R
