I know that this is a repeated question on the board, but I have searched high and low in the archives for an answer, and have yet to find a sufficient one. I call on everyone here at swaylocks to share their advice on glassing swallow tails. I am looking on the proper way for doing a cut-lap resin tint on a swallow tail. What is the proper way to cut the glass so there is full coverage in the butt-crack area of the swallow tail? Please help me find a complete answer to the proper way of glassing a swallow tail. thank you for the help.
This is how this novice glasses a swallow.Tape the deck line. Laminate the bottom first. I lap the rails as any board, but cut the glass flush with the bottom of the board in the butt crack. Let it cure. Flip it. lam the deck. When you cut the laps in the crack it won’t cover the entire curve. I cut two rectagular strips of glass and laminate them in the curve. I leave a “G” string strip that goes down into the butt crack and laps onto the bottom. I’m not kidding. That should cover the butt crack. You can add second strips if you think you need two layers in the crack. Mike
