whats up doods…so my room mate is a student at UC berkeley and got his hands on a few gallons of casting resin. it was leftover from a project he was doing. i was wondering if it had any application with surfboards…would be ok for ding repair or glassing wood fins? its sitting in my garage and i just ran out of UV and certainly wont turn down some free resin. thanks guys
What brand? Maybe check their website or email them? Or try some sample tests?
I used to glass with casting resin made by WR Grace. This was in the late 60’s
It worked fine but took a long time to kick. I added DMA to speed things up. Cobalt would be better.
Has no UV resistance so it will yellow earlier. I used to add yellow tint which helped hide the yellowing.
I still use casting resin for deep pour resin tables. It goes off slower and you get less heat buildup.
Hell yesah! Go for it. If you got any leftover you could make a resined table out of a spool end and a set of coasters for the frat boys. Get it on Dood.
It is formulated to harden slower.
Cobalt will help with that.
Squeeze that catylist bottle.
