Glassing XPS without a stringer!

Hey Guys i finished my shape right now, the next step will be the glassing part!

I build the board with XPS and without a stringer! Can somebody tell me, if 3 Layer Fibreglass (4 Oz) on the Deck and 2 layers (4Oz) on the Bottom are enough?

Greetz Chris

I did this with a short/wide/thick board:

bamboo veneer + 4oz bottom and bamboo veneer + 4oz + 4oz patch on top.

some folks seem to equate the bamboo veneer to a layer of 6oz making it translate to:

6oz + 4oz bottom and 6oz + 4oz + 4oz patch.

that board is somewhat overdone in my opinion.

I think that what you’ve proposed is a good idea…perhaps making that third layer on the deck a simple patch as opposed to a full layer.

with 2 layers top and bottom, both lapped, you’ve got 16oz on the rails…that’s a pretty good place to be.

The closest I’ve come to this is a board I made with an EPS deck and XPS bottom and no stringer. Glassed with double 4 bottom and triple 4 deck and no problems at all. Just sold it 2 years later, ding free!

Your on the right path just make that top layer a patch starting 6 inches in front of your foot to six after your back one. I did that on a stringerless and loved it.

are all layers overlaped? or some cut to the edge!?

P.S. Thank you guys for all advices!

Bottom: both layers wrap staggered. Deck 1st layer goes to bottom edge, top two full wrap staggered.
