glassing

hi everybody… i just finished my first board and i want to glass it now… i havent buy the material, which fiber cloth i need? and what other tools should i use to glass the board.?

thank you

  • A good respirator

  • A full box of latex gloves

  • Fiberglass…Totally dependant on your preference, size of the board, and weight you’re after…

  • Laminating resin

  • Hotcoat/Sanding resin

  • Gloss (If you want a pretty, shiny board)

  • Rubbing compund (If you want a pretty, shiny board)

  • A large disc sander or a strong arm

  • A nice pad for the sander if that’s the route you decide to go…

  • Adhesive for sticking the paper to the pad…

  • Plenty of sand paper (80, 120, 320 wet/dry, 600 wet/dry)

  • Catalyst

  • Buckets

  • Stir sticks

  • Tint (If you want a tint job)

  • Squeegees

  • Masking tape

  • Razor blades

  • Acetone

  • Patience

  • Cat-like quickness

Have fun!

Your answer is probably in the Archives.

generally…

Standart Shortboard= 4ozx2 top and 4oz bottom. with deck pad

High Performance longboards are generall 6oz x2 top by 6oz bottom with deck patch.

Alot of retro style short boards are glassed as above also.

Traditional/Oldskool Longboards are 10oz x2 and 10oz with a deck patch.

And a good compromise on a longboard is 8oz.
