Figure it’s better to do my first gloss job on it rather than a customer’s new board. This board has no dings. What, strip the wax, resand with 220/400, soap and water, then acetone rub? Then go for it?

Yeah- strip the wax, and sand it down. I go 220 to 320 to 600 wet-sand. I did it to a 9 month old board because I didn’t like the matte finish. I used car polish and I know people advise against it because of the pinkish tint, but I think it looks awesome and I get comments on it all the time- especially since I glossed it. I used the harbor freight sander/polisher to do all my work. Good luck.
Howzit Bill, If you are going to gloss the board, take the wax off and sand with 100 grit. Wash it with soap and rinse, look for any spots where the water seems to not stick. These could be spots that have some oil from your hands or other contamination, these are the spots to wipe with acetone and rewash and check againIf the water seems to lay on the board then it clean and ready for the glossing resin. Great tips kokua, thanks.
Hi ,
It is possible to gloss after spray job ? This is my new toy !
Regards , Andi .
be very careful about glossing on top of paint. Your best bet is to do a test batch on the a scrap board with the actual colors that you are using. the styrene in the resin has an amzing ability to pull up certain paint on a hotcoated surface
