Hey all. This is my first post on swaylocks, but I have been reading
through the forums quite a bit over the past year. I am preparing for my
first gloss coat on an epoxy board and after some investigation, I
learned that poly resin was the way to go to achieve a nice shine. I was
recommended silmar uv cure resin, and was wondering if anyone has used
it and if so what the results were like. Also, if there is a resin out
there that is better for gloss coats, what is it? Any and all
information would be more than appreciated. Thanks in advance.
you can use the UV resin ,, but you should set it off with mekp Cat.
cause when the wind hits it it will orange peel on you.
so let it gell inside first then walk it out in the sun to cure
Thanks Ken. So if I use the UV resin and add the mekp like you said, do I still add surfacing wax? and also, how much should I sand the board to prep for this gloss coat?
how much sanding??????
sand as much as it needs,, no shiney spots and as flat as you can get it (no woopdeedoo's)
power sand then block it 100 or 120 will work
Make sure you are using Gloss Resin, not Just regular silmar
