Gloss Coat Around Fin Boxes etc

Just a quickie,

About to gloss coat the board and have the FCS side fines and a fin box.

I assume I just tape over the box and FCS plugs? Cutting around the FCS plugs (ie A circle) with a razor blade?

Maybe someone else has little trick they do?

My dad always said, “Better to ask a stupid question then to make a stupid mistake”.

There is a small handy tool that will let you cut perfect circles of any diameter out of adhesives:

Thanks Balsa, I'll go check out my local craft shops and see how I go.

Howzit ledge, You can use a coin but I can't remember which one it is, but it's either a nickle or a quarter I think. Just find the one that covers the slot. Aloha,Kokua

Oh Kokua!

So simple yet so effective!

Right, grab me a hammer boys, I'm heading off to my daughters money box!

Not trying to hijack here, but looks like your using contact paper for masking? Does this work better than masking tape?

Looking for the best masking material for the same pupose (fin boxes) while using epoxy…

Thanks in advance.

Hey Balsa!

I tracked down a cutting compass and it works great! Thanks for that advice!

One quick question, I have a video where they actually leave the tape over the fin boxes ets until the actual polishing of the board? Or should I take the tape off after the gloss is 3/4 set?

Thanks

Mick

I personally take the tape off as soon as the gloss has started to gel. Maybe others do otherwise.

I don’t think it works better than masking tape. It’s just easier to cut circles in, due to the backing paper and it just happened that I had a roll nearby when I masked those plugs, so I tried it and it worked OK.
