&gloss/hotcoat&

are there any advantages to using gloss resin for your pinlines? besides it looking better. less of a chance of bleeding?

I use gloss resin exclusively for resin pins. However I have seen some incredible pins done by taping and spraying acrylic paint with an airbrush.(Hats off to Jesse at Spectrum Surfboards in Melbourne Fla.) R.B.

but between reg. sanding resin and gloss resin, are there any advantages to using gloss??

I,m not a chemist but it just seems to work better.(at least for me).Maybe its just because its the way I have done it for a lot of years with good results. Most of the guys doing resin pins in production do it the same way.I would be interested in hearing from Gene Cooper or Jim Phillips on this one.One little thing about gloss resin is that when polishing a board you may at times burn thru the clear gloss and hit the pinlineā€¦it will polish right on out if you are careful.Hot coat resin will look kind of dull.
