You mean glass shops or board shops?
Either way, it’s probably just a glossy board instead of a sanded finish.
Start with fine sandpaper and work up to polishing compound.
“Gloss and Polish” means there is an additional resin layer that’s been buffed out to a shiny finish.
Typically, short competition style boards have a sanded finish. Long boards, retros, and hybrids usually come glossed and polished. Sanded finish boards are lighter, gloss and polish adds some weight (and class).
A gloss and polish option from a shaper adds about $30-$70 to the cost of the board. From asian factories it’s a $5-$10 option (since labor is cheap there).
