Glossed pattern on sanded finish?

Hi everyone,

 

Just wondering how to get clean glossed pattern on a sanded finish. I remember seeing a post about it but cannot find it anymore…

By glossed pattern I mean a fully sanded finish board with glossy pattern. 

Did you guys try to do that? How did/would you do it? Sanded finish first then tape your pattern and only rubb + buff the taped pattern? I tried this but cannot get a nice and crisp separation between the matte finish and the glossy pattern as the tape gets messed up by the rubbing/buffing…

Polish board … Tape off … Sand (by hand if you can’t help but screw up the tape)

I did the opposite, I’ll try your method and see how it goes!

I agree. Polish entire board, tape off, and use a Scotcbrite pad to give a smooth unglossed area that is free of sanding marks.

sand the whole board as normal for a polish, then spot polish your taped off areas.
