alright awesome guys thank you. one more q though. would maguires polish work well? i used it after a 600 wet sand and didnt really do the trick. next board ill take your word to go past 1000 but im just wondering if i got the right polish and compound
Saying Maguires polish is like saying...I have a surfboard? What kind paint, fiberglass, RV. What level of cut? Cut and polish etc.
What you need is a true polish. to make it shine..no cut
Good luck polishing epoxy. I never try to polish epoxy. I spray over it with something clear and hard, then shine it up.
Sand smooth to 500 or less depending on how well you get the previous scratches out. Then get a wool bonet and use cutting compound any kind will do. Then use Perfect It machine polish #06064 with the Black Perfect it foam polishing pad #05738. Then use Perfect it Ultrafine machine Polish with Blue Ultrafine foam pad #05751.
Do not use a wool bonet with polishing. Wool bonets are used for cutting. Use a foam pad for the delicate polishing at the end.
Better polishing through chemicals...not elbow grease.
No need to take a board to 1000 grit, just wasting time and effort.
