So , now that clark foam is out of business ive decided to go back to my roots with some wood boards. The boards ive made previously came out great but were strictly retro shapes designed for cruising due to wieght. So i came up with the idea to build a frame with a stringer and cross ribs out of 1/8th inch or quarter inch plywood , then glue a sheet of thin veneer to the bottom of the frame , after i do this i want to spray expanding foam ( great stuff) onto everything to make it strong but still keep it light weight , after this i want to glue on the top sheet of veneer , cut out my template , glue up the rails , and finish as usuall. I had a couple concerns including what to glass with ,( i didnt know if i could get away with poly) and if it would be strong enough. I’m trying to make a light wieght shortboard and durabilty isnt a first priority because im used to shaping a new board every couple of months anyway. So basically Im looking for a cheap alternative to performance boards, who knows it could work great , it could flop. Thanks in advance.
what about epoxy and homedepot foam?
