I am not sure why, but I can’t seem to find any sites with info on the glass ons. No wonder FCS has such a big market their stuff is everywhere and they have a HUGE selection.
I am looking at getting some fins for a quad fish I am having shaped. Most likely a speed dialer set up or maybe a traditional quad set up. Any links out there besides the wood fins101 site??
rich halcyon does some, john cherry . . . go to surfermag.com go to the forums, and PM a guy called Tri Fins are Dangerous . . . maybe he can give ya some leads
look in the loxbox vs probox thread, you can see lots of fin companies thrown down in there, and google them or PM the fin guys . …
rainbow fin co makes some . . .
I think Speed Dialers are with loxbox, but you can pm him and see if they can make a glass on set.
I know you already found 101 Fins but I thought I’d give them a plug anyway. I just did a board for myself using their K9 canard quads in bamboo and really like how it turned out. They also have cutway canard quads. Marlin delivers his fins very quickly as well. For us that is really important and hasn’t always been the case everywhere.
fiberglasssupply.com sells a set of 4 twinzer style glass ons for about $22. Or a thruster set for $18 (buy 2 sets of three and for $36 you’ll your quad set plus 2 spare fins).
Thanks for the plug for 101. I have been emailing Marlin as well. I can’t seem to find all the different designs on his site (he mentioned the model numbers in my email, but I can’t find any pics) and I don’t like bugging him about it. I emailed him again so I will see what happens. He initially told me that the set would be between $60-80, which sounds pretty dang good (is that right?). I really don’t want to spend too much though, as I was having hte board shaped, I do the glassing and at some point with all the options it could be almost as much as a board off the rack, so I have to watch my budget. As I have been researching the fiberglass fins it seems like they really aren’t that much cheaper ($85-99 for FCS/Lokbox speed dialer fins).
Keith, looks like some good pricing, they have a lot of materials and tools as well. I just emailed them to see if they could do a quad set up. I wish they had a little more selection and pictures, but will see what they have to offer. I am really surprised that there isn’t a really good website out there that shows a bunch of pics, etc…Dang too bad I am not more of a business man, my wife could do a sweet site for me and I could blow everybody elses doors off. Is the surf industry that far behind?? I don’t get it.
