goodbye winter .....

the first "official " day of spring for us here in oz tomorrow .

tonight’s sunset …

…as with waves , it is amazing the effect that strong winds , fast moving clouds and a setting sun can have over the space of twenty minutes …

I’m looking forward now to some glassier days with swell !

Spring , like autumn [“fall”] can be a great time of year for THOSE conditions . And the days are lighter for longer , too !! …

And I’m looking forward to autumn falling here in the hope of getting some pre winter swells.

rip the bag out of it on your firewire , Greg ! [THAT will sell 'em !]

have a good ‘fall’ mate …but don’t hurt yourself too much heheheee

ben

Can’t wait… two weeks and I will be in springtime… glassy lines peeling in round the cape…

Spring is heaven!

Remnants of winter swells still rolling in, and beautiful light offshores, blue skies, warming sun. Bikini’s starting to come out from hibernation…

Summer is death for swell… but I’ll be on the SUP train by then, so I can’t wait for the knee high bomb sets!

hang on a sec …

your “location” reads

"europe , netherlands " …

[…will you be on holiday in south africa then , ‘Dave’ ???]

cheers mate !

ben

What, you guys got different solstices down there? I thought the season change was when the earth started tilting back the other way, not when a new month starts. Maybe your months spin counterclockwise or something…

yeah ,

we are “weird” here …

OUR seasons are four seasons to a year.

every three months , starting on the first day of the month …

so it goes like this …

december 1st …summer starts

march 1st …autumn [‘fall’] starts

june 1st…winter starts

september 1st …spring starts

…simple and sensible , really , when you think about it …

Anyway, looking out the window and seeing THIS today … I think it will be "a stay home and do fin panels day ", somehow !

Baie goed! Would show you pictures but this forum is now moaning about 29.3kb max file size…

Near George, SA…

and after a couple of weeks it’ll be time for hoods, booties and gloves as the sea temp here in jollyholland drops gradually down to say… 4 degrees? ach, that’s snowboarding season in the alps…

First day of Autumn and the buoys read 3m at 10 secs and 18kt onshore, bring it on! we’ve had the flattest 2 months ever.

Lovely session last night, everyone was battling walls of white water on the main beach, and I had another beach to myself with fun chest high shoredump hollow waves.

Launched myself about 8ft on one… now if only I could get the board to come with me;)

Guys im getting close to 12 months surfing. I started seriously around december last year, and i’ve kept going on average probably once a week, sometimes up to 3 times a week. Really digging it, same with building boards, started about 6 months ago with a mate, who also started surfing with me. Such a great hobby/lifestyle/obsession!!. Still a noob, but getting stoked anyway. I’m actually having a lot of good days on the minimal, and i think im ready to go a bit shorter, although i would LOVE to have a 9 footer in my quiver, my mate has one, and its just soooo cool. Almost finished our 1st board, just gotta get my arse into gear, and the stubbie is almost ready to glass, and next week were picking up a 7 5 minimal blank, and a 6 6 kneeboard blank. Also, i just finished a weihenstephaner pilsener, and a fuller’s ESB, 2 of the best beers you can buy hands down. Life is good.

Cheers.
