I used to look at Swaylocks as a place a shaper could come and get advice or suggestions. Now, I see posts where people are being flamed for their opinion. I see posts that go unanswered when someone asks for help. I wonder why such a wonderful place has turned in to a typical, teenage bulletin board where not much is accomplished and everyone just tries to out-wit each other. Surftwirp, I’ve been here all along and, to be honest, I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about. There have been dickheads and idiots in and out of here all along. There have been some ridiculous arguments and fights, but in the end it seems that the cream rises to the top, the weeds are pulled, and people still get down to some good conversation. Regarding lack of advice, when some newbie comes in here and asks a question that has been asked before, how many times have you done an archive search to point them in the right direction? Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t. Either way, perhaps you yourself can help keep the soul of Swaylock’s alive by helping out wherever you can. After all, Swaylock’s thrives on what people give, not what they take. Hope you stick around.
Thanks fellas. I know the dickheads and idiots will go away. This post was intended to be my rant, but instead of clicking back to index, I clicked post. And since I view all posts at once, I was unable to figure out how to delete my post. There was a thread on the whole ordeal, but I was still unable to accomplish my goal of deleteing it. As of now, I am still very much confused as to how to delete my post when in the “View All” mode. As for the archive, I tend to check before I ask and if I still do not understand something, then I ask about it. Normally, I get help when needed. I belong to many different types of forums, mainly for graphic design, but all in all, flamers are usually people that do not go away because when one leaves, 3 come. Those are the only people that really burn my tail. Granted, I am no where near an advanced shaper (mainly I shape for myself and a few friends) and could probably hardly consider myself an intermediate shaper, but I get by. I have watched Shaping 101 about a million times now (usually before I shape a board just in case). I did not mean to frustrate or insult any valuable and/or permanent (probably not phrasing this appropriately, but you get what I mean) Swaylocks member. In my experiences as an active forum member in all of my forums, I am just sick of flamers, no matter what forum they are in. Well, I believe that my rant the other night and tonight are both over. I just needed to blow a little steam because as I remembered this forum, it was not what I came back to. Well, please, keep up the good work of maintaining this site Swaylock and to those that actively contribute to help us “noobs” out, I appreciate it. Cheers, Erik

Hey I am back!!! I here both sides. It can be teenage-like and I have pooped a pimple or too, but over-all this is a goo sight. SOmetimes people don’t answer questions because they have answered that question a million times etc. If you need more help go to the archives or yell for help, you’ll get the answeres… If not, Mitch in La Jolla will answer it, ha ha ha
