Gorilla Glue vs. Stringers

I started work on my first EPS board a few days ago and during the process of gluing the stringer in I made a big mistake- I put on to much Gorilla glue. It was my fault for not reading the directions and not figuring out the stuff expands as much as much as it does.

I’ve read where several people used gorilla glue for stringers in the past. I guess you don’t use to much of it, or do you sand through the glue? Any chance you can dilute the stuff and thin it out? Or maybe you roll it on and let it sit for afew minutes before you squeeze foam to the stringer?

What’s your secret?

Thanks.

I use a scrap of end grain balsa for a squeegee and spread it out like I was applying stain, a little goes a LONG way

I just use a plastic laminating squeegee on one surface only & mist the other with water. Then blue tape along the whole joint makes it so the stuff doesn’t squeeze out when it expands. You do have to clamp/weight/strap well or the expansion can open your joint.
