Graphics questions?

A friend of mine wants to put some large graphics on some boards and saw someone that applied what looked like large stickers and then applied something over it (varnish, resin, clear coat…?) He said it was not rice paper but probably like a vinyl graphic. Any ideas as to what it was?

In regards to normal vinyl graphics and stickers, does spraying a clear coat over them protect them? Does the clear coat adhere to the smooth stickers?

That much vinyl sucks on boards, we do it for promo boards but for real boards we use digitally printed graphics on rice paper or a fabric blend. you can put acrylic over the vinyl as well but its not going to do much.

Cut vinyl ideally sealed with a linear polyurethane clear. The same way it’s done with sticker graphics on new cars. If the vinyl has an image printed on it, it’s the same thing as what you call a vehicle wrap on cars. This application is ideal for already finished surfboards repurposed as a promotional art piece or outdoor signage.

The vinyl graphic application starts at 3:30 in the1st video.

The stickers at the end of the movie look like they are under the clear coat ( am i wrong?). It looks just perfect. How it that achieved?

Is it some kind of a sticker and then a polyurethane clear coat is applied?

The company I work for has a graphics and printing division.  We do vehicle wraps among other things.  The picture below is a co-worker on a board that he applied a wrap to with his sponsor logos.
