Does anyone here know any info about the collector from southern California (or his surfshop-museum?) that purchased the George Greenough flex spoon knee boards? How to contact him, maybe a website, etc.? A “PaulJensen” mentioned something about a Westport flex board being purchased for $2000.00? Was this by the same guy?
Mike Herschier - owner of the Wavelengths surfshops (I think there are 3 or 4 scattered around) bought the Greenough collection from George Greenough himself. He has them on display at the Morro Bay shop which has an excellent surfboard collection - a surf museum of sorts. The Greenough boards include a very early balsa kneeboard, a balsa kneeboard with scooped deck, several glass spoons (Velo style) and a carbon edge board. I don’t know if the flex tail Paul mentioned is in their collection or not. I spoke with the manager of the shop this morning and he didn’t know about it.
I talked with the guy that found it yesterday…He told me that he sold it for $2k to some surf museum in the Morro Bay area… Paul
Paul - See if he knows who actually bought it. I don’t know of any surf museum in the Morro Bay area and I’ve lived here for 20 years. Maybe someone is trying to get one started?
