I found this board hanging up at a local surf shop. I asked the owner if I could get a few pics of the board, and he was more than happy to take it down. He said he had owned it for 15+ yrs. I was wondering about the shape, what kind of surf did you make this board for. It was in great shape, very well taken care of. Anyway I thought I would share a few pics of this rare find.

I have to give props to Nichols Surf shop in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Great guy and a true surf shop. If your ever in NSB make sure and stop by Nichols.
It looks like the designs from the mid 70’s. Lighting Bolt use to make similar shapes for Lopez’s pipeline boards (except those boards were mostly pintails.) I rode a similar shapes by Chuck Andres and Reno from the same era.
I remember giving those boards away to the neighborhood kids. I had no idea that they would be collectables.
If I’m not mistaken, the art in the logo is from a shot of Greg at Hatteras from the east coast championships. It was one of those power finals, with Greg, Jim Cartland, Rick Rassmussen.
The amazing thing is the template, a rounded diamond tail, today people talk about shapers ripping off others designs. Looks like Greg was ahead of todays curve
