I will probably see him at Russell’s memorial on the 17th, at Blackies at 8:00 this weekend. I haven’t had his number for a few years, but I’ll get it for you. MOIR more than anyone created the stir. All the Newport stars owe something to him, for he helped create them, and the image. He’s a good guy who never really received the credit due him. Always at the beach there, or in the water. I guess I could blame him also, because I had so many good days there before the floodgates were opened. Dennis Junor came along during that time, but it was Mike Moir who was the guy.
I friended Mike Moir on facebook and we plan on some discussion. Thanks for the suggestion Ghettorat. Spoke with Pautschy on a couple of orders today and he said to tell you hello whoever you are. LOL.
I am in Australia and around the early eighties we used to be able to get Surfer and Surfing magazine monthly and read up on what was happenening in the states. Occasionally the local news agent would stock a Magazine called Breaker Out I think it was called mainly just dealt with the Californian scene and had alot of info on that time and place from what i recall. Was wondering if the magazine still exists.
Hopefully Moir shows up to document the Russell paddleout Saturday, and I hope GP shows up as well, and if so I’ll tell them hi. I heard Timpone is flying over from Maui. Breakout is long gone, but I know Mark at “Stay Covered” in Oceanside has piles of those things, if anyone is interested in getting copies.
Hey Cuttlefish I think i was surfing with your mate Dave in Phuket in Thailand last year, he was still ripping it up on a McCoy nugget, having a good time.
