“You guys are in luck… The Man the myth… Mr Greg Webber is coming on Sept 1st for a 2 week power session. We are gonna be updating his models and hanging at the Lowers WCT. Shaping, Surfing and I will be trying to keep him out of trouble. In my opinion, GW is the best surfboard shaper in the world. He is also a world class freak …I love him. If you want, I am still taking orders for Webbers finished by the man himself while he is here… Any one wanting to get a Webber while hes here go to your …lost Dealer and order ASAP or you can mail Rick at Tell em I sent you. Do it in the next week if you want his John hancock, Other wise We can still do it after hes gone. Hes only doin 100 himself…but the new plugs and tune up with my crew will ensure that stocks and customs will continue with his design integrity after he leaves.” email me direct: (from Surfermag.com Design Forum, posted by mayhemb3) http://www.lostenterprises.com/prod/shapersinfo.php

Note the Lowers contest and ASR are both on the weekend of the Swaylock’s Anonymous weekend. But, between the pro’s, the trail closure and the sharks the Big Sur is sounding pretty damn good.

Mr. Greg Webber can shape 100 boards in two weeks? That`s 6.25 boards per .875 day! How does he have any time for trouble? No fun in that!

100 boards in 2 weeks! Thats 14 days at 7 boards a day. Having never met the guy, either he is a “freak” or he is utilizing the shaping machine to get part of the work done!

Yea Nels , you read it correctly. Come on guys, We have our own CAD machine, we design the boards in the program…takes about 5 cuts to it it right, then we start cutting the production and customs. Greg can finish 2 an hour…Do 10 a day…not that difficult if you have the finished peice clear in your head from the start. Greg can get in trouble whiles he sleepin!

Greg was a good friend of the late Peter Crawford… famous eccentric kneeboarder, photographer and mat surfer. They must have shared some incredible adventures, no?

that quite an easy target. we finish profiles in 20 minutes of the same high standard as greg. at present starting at 7:30-8am i laminate 6 boards by 11:30am-12 then have lunch do a bit of banking etc and finish 6 - 7 proflies before 4:30pm. generally your name shortboard shapers these days can plane a board and finish it in around 40 minutes! ive seen nev do a full shape in 21 minutes and darcy do one in 23.both were team riders boards and they went magic for them. my personal record is around the 27 minutes. i have handplaned and finshed 13 in a 9 hour day before. since ive started using the profile machines i have never had the time to do more than that in a day as i do so much more in my factory these days! however we have to answer the phone and talk to visitors in our factorys etc so its not always easy! im quite sure greg will do some great shapes in his run and make plenty of fun/trouble in his allotted timeframe. http://www.feraldave.com

Why are noone flaming these guys? There are so many guys here who speak up against shaping machines, off the rack boards, “machineshapes have no soul”, popouts, etc. Here are several well known shapers who brag about their shaping machines, how quick they can shape and finish the boards. Why doesn’t anyone speak up against it? Is a shaping machine in the hands of a well known/respected shaper ok? Bdw. since we have a representative from Lost Industries here now, are the stripes/grooves I see along the rails of the boards made by a coarse screen or the shaping machine? I always wanted to know. regards, Håvard
