GSI advertorial in Latest Tracks mag

The latest edition of Tracks features an advertorial which lists various board makers and their latest efforts. What is interesting is that G.S.I. list their factory location as Sydney. I’m almost 100% certain GSI manufacture their all their boards in Thailand. Can anyone confirm or deny?

G.S.I. have shops all around Australia…I OFTEN take my clean unwanted clothes there…

Good Samaritan Industries have always helped me out with clothes for glassing and sanding in…their new overalls are usually around $10aus…stocked !!

I’m amazed they’re going into thailand now…that’s great !! Best of luck with the surfboards, ‘Sammy’s’ …it never ceases to amaze me the avenues they branch off into…true pioneers !

Very funny Ben…haven’t yet heard about Sammies getting into board production unless they make their boards from your cast offs…

Hicksy

now, THERE’S an idea !!

…swap my old crappy boards for more glassing overalls…and skateys !

check your p.m. before ya knock off ‘work’, by the way !

the last i heard when i spoke to mark kelly or maybe al byrne?? about 6 months back was they were in the process of setting up a new ware house …

boards still made in thailand tho …

they need somewhere to shelve the boards in storage so maybe the grom who mr sheens the boards before there shipped to retailers counts as finished in australia??

Bert,

The test for country of origin is, where work equivalent to more than half cost of manufacture is undertaken. It is possible GSI have breached the trade practices act, by making “misleading representations” about country of origin.

Update on this - it looks like GSI have set the record straight in another advertorial in SW mag. States quite clearly their boards are made at the Cobra factory in Thailand. Maybe the Tracks advertorial was a communication mixup.
