maybe i should start taking pics of all those gsi boards that im fixing all the time
Looks like operator failure to me??? Can only imagine improper leash loop set up of the surfer for that to occur. Maybe If you could further explain the cause of damage. If that happened with a local shaper, he could point a finger at the glasser and he could blame the foam company. A local shaper’s product is only as good as the guarantee. What guarantee do you offer with your boards??
Why treat your golden goose with disrespect? Some purist on here might even scold you for providing the repair.
Glad you are scoring on the alledged poor quality of these boards. I have never heard of them by the way.
Looks like the leash loop went right through an old repair… caused by the same thing?
Please explain…
This was sent to me from a friend in Satellite Beach today. No one is exactly sure how it happened. All I know is that he took a spill and the board was no longer attached to his leash. Looks like there was a repair near that spot that may have weakened the area. The board has always been prone to easy dings. It is just glassed really light and has always been way too fragile. You can dent the board with your fingers.
I just thought it was a funny picture more than anything, the way the tear is
next to the logo. . …not trying to start controversy, just hopefully a laugh. Maybe I have an odd sense of humor.
Yup. Happens to just about any board if the leash loop isn’t done properly. It is why rail savers were invented, and most present day leashes have a rail saver built in.
How not to attach a leash.
Shorten your string so the tail saver webbing on the legrope rubs on the rail not the string. Bit of a cheap shot.
From my experience one of the more lightly glassed board brands around here are Al Merricks but they are usually owned by reasonable surfers who know and appreciate what they are getting.
Well, I stand corrected. …good lesson on proper leash install.

Seems to be the opposite around here
Amen Chrisp… same up north!
…also usually another operator error in the surfer not knowing how to surf yet buying a rounded pin Merrick potato chip to learn on. On our usually soft point breaks.
They also often don’t know how to install a leash.
