h2 quad /h2 tri fin

just wondering, i have med. h2 tex setup for a tri fin sitting around my house, if i bought one more indvidual tex center fin, will that work for my quad insted of buying an h2quad setup for another$90, are the tri/ quad the same dimensions ?

yup

but I think the quads aren’t canted as much up front

I have the large and med H2 thruster sets

if you run proboxes larry and robin have better fins in glass

isn’t it odd that the quad(4) H2s are cheaper than a set of thruster(3) H2s?

thanks, the h2 thrusters are texlanium. and the quads arent

well the reps have been telling me the others are just “peinted over” texalium because some folks don’t like the shark lure sparkle.both the tex and the flat grey thrusters cost the same…

What is texlanium??

btw, I just got a set of H-2 mediums for my 6’ quad fish, I use them on the front and use a speed dialer cut for the rears. Only surfed the board 2x with this set up so hard to get a really good impression (especially since I have been swithing boards so much lately).

it’s aluminized glass comes in several colors.

I’ve tried both blue and silver

best for vacuum layups not hand layups as the glass is very stiff.

It is my understanding that the quad sets of H2’s utilize the same fins

as the thruster sets. There are three sizes(and two foils, side and center).

The normal quad set uses a large (side foil) for the fronts, and small (either

foil) for the trailers. You can order any combination of sizes or foil you choose.

BTW, I’ve gotten great feedback on using the H2 quad set in Lis-style fish.

The painted sets, I believe, are less expensive than the pretty ones that

show off the exotic fiber. Same material , though. If there’s any more

questions about this I might be able to get the FCS guys to post up…

Ya, Mine are NOT like that, mine are just painted silver, I got them off of ebay. I would assume mine would be the cheaper version.

I’m a longtime fin tinkerer.

I currently ride a fast quad on a fast left reef break, goofy foot.  I just discovered using H2 fins in the front, which gives great vertical cutbacks which I haven’t found on a quad before.  But at the definite sacrifice of speed. The H2s increase toe-in really gives a perceptible drag.

Seeing McKee’s Quatro site of mixing fins asymetrically really got me thinking: which one front fin do I keep as H2 to keep the vertical cutback?  I’d want to go back to a normal fin on one side to keep the frontside down the line speed.  I’ve looked at it in my mind over and over and cant seem to wrap my mind around which side’s fin does what, I assumed the backside rail fin was responsible for the quicker cutback turns with the increaeed toe angle added in, but now looking at it, its messing with my mind.

Gurus’ thoughts?
