Hansen/Lopez Model

I was just curious if anyone knew anything about a board I picked up today at a yard sale. It’s a Hansen by Gerry Lopez 8’2" single fin, round pin. The nose rocker is eyeballed at about 4" and there is maybe an inch of tail kick at most with a slight vee in the last 8" or so. It’s 19" wide and about 3-3 1/8" thick and has a few repairable dings and no delamination. There is no fin, but the box is the old school notch style. Any history buffs that can give me some more info on the board and perhaps where I could locate a fin to match the box? Mahalos, Mike

You scored !!! I love collecting old boards,Ck E-bay for your fin !! sounds like the board is a mid 70’s and probably rides great on 6’ drainers!! I ride one on one certain wave here on Kauai. Anyway ck e-bay and ask around and you will run into a fin before you know it! Whatever you do don’t glass a fin in … Happy Hollowdays ! Clyde

If my memory serves me correctly, Lopez had a model out with Hansen somewhere around 1970. I remember the first ones being narrow round nose, S-deck things that evolved into the total down railed flat bottoms that was one of the biggest developements during that time. A year or two later, Lopez went on to start his own label, Lightning Bolt.

… isn’t that a Guidance fin system?
