I just caught a post on another thread where Jim mentions that yesterday was his 65th birthday. Best wishes Jim!
I didn't hear of Swaylock's until about 2004, and didn't even start lurking here until 2006. When I look back at the archives, I see that Jim was on here early and passing along knowledge in large doses. And he continues to do so even today, as well as having some of the funniest stories of crude behavior ever put on this site. I'm proud to say I know da haole guy!
Thankx doooooooooooods, the Connster and I went to dinner last night at the 333, Nedsurf gave me a gift card to it, my wife ate bleeding quivering cow, while I went for a seafood stew with lobster, I didn’t find any lobster in it, but chowed down about a half dozen baby octopi, my 9$ vodka gimlet was tasty
being from the first wave of boomer’s, I have started another “project” board, the details will stay clouded for now, but it is another tribute board, but no so much to any one surfer or group of surfers, just the ones who no longer share in our joy of the ocean or the love of life
Happy Bday JKP. Glad to see we are still alive. I am building a new shaping and glassing area this week. Going to build just a few fancy ones for the fun of it. Thanks for teaching me.
Hauoli lā hānau o Kimo, Happy 65th!!! Read that great atricle on you in SJ and was surprised we were riding waves on the same island in the early 60ʻs; your skills as a builder are now well known as the SJ article indicated; that sunrise board and your wood boards are works of art as well as totally functional sliders; good on ya mate!!! keep up the great craftsmanship; I have surfed for years with Kevin Johns here on Maui but never met his brother while on Oahu; a sad time for all young surfers and the Johns Ohana; sooo…stay healthy and active…Kapalulu
Aloha Jim, Have a very Happy Birthday from a fellow Boomer and board builder retired. Take care of your health and I hope you are around for many years to teach the younger ones the finer tips of board building, I miss it so much. Aloha,Kokua
Jim a belated Happy Birthday. When you said a Baby Boomer concept board, my first thought was one that would accommodate a Walker or maybe one of those Hoveround chairs.
