Well, what can I say…here we are coming to the end of another amazing (and really crazy) year. I just want to send out a huge thanks to all the great folks who have contributed to Swaylock’s this year and years past. And a huge welcome to all of the readers and newcomers who have ended up here for whatever reason. As a simple pay back to this unique and entirely free site might I suggest the following: the next time you are out in the line up and things are feeling a bit crowded or tense or otherwise populated – spread the Swaylock’s vibe. And if you can’t think of how to spread the Swaylock’s vibe, please select one of the following: give a loud hoot when someone is dropping into a wave; smile and nod to your neighbor; ask someone about their session; give away a wave; ask someone what they are riding. Consider forgetting about the “me, me me” and focusing on the “us, this, it.” Surfing is a gift. Be thankful. Be generous. Happy holidays everyone, Swaylock

From a passive reader, A thank you to Mike and all the contributors for keeping those of us who are interested in more than just surf fashion in tune with the cutting edge. Although I have yet to actually dive in and shape a board, I feel the knowledge I have gained from reading this site over the years, has given not only my surfing an advantage, but helped broaden my horizons on the equipment I choose to ride. I can’t tell you how neat it is, to be able to have instant access to communication with some of this sports (for lack of a better word.) innovators and legends, both past, present, and future. Man, it’s so easy to talk about being positive out in the water. I hope that we definitely make serious efforts towards being kind to each other. As I’ve gotten a little older, the prospects of weird vibes at certain spots gets more and more exhausting. I know I do my very best to give a nod or say hello. It’s so nice when that is extended back. So, basically, I’m gonna continue to do my part. Best to you all, and thank you to Mike for the very positive holiday wishes.
