Ok, at the point that im ready to select fin option for a funshape ive been working on… its fully shaped and ready to glass, but I hit a dilema… what fin size/system should I be looking at?.. Im interested in doing a glass-on (never done one before… always been FCS or box)… heres the dims… 7’6", 15" nose, 21" center, 14" tail, 2.5" thick
also, heres the big question that could open up my fin options… has anyone ever cut the tabs off of a fin like FCS or LokBox or futures… etc… and then glassed it on? for instance… was thinking of taking a soul arch 7" from FCS and slicing off the base and glassing it in… is this possible?
note: this board is for those waist to head high days down in the gulf…
edit: its EPS/epoxy construction w/ a plastic stringer… will be very flexy
ps… I guess if its too crazy I can always install a box, test a bazillion fin combos (ala chips), find one that works perfectly for me, make a clone board and glass on the fin. (bottom contour isnt too complicated and can be reproduced… ish)
no ideas?..

edit: guess swaylocks can’t handle russian characters… lets try this…
I’d stick to glass fins if you want to glass them on. Should work fine. Also, there are a wide range of glass fins available made to be glassed on.
I was interested in the FCS fin I mentioned because this board is pretty much a repro of one of my friends board… I had the most fun ever on his… so i tried to reproduce it as closely as possible but want the fin to be glassed on… just trying to recapture the feeling… I can’t borrow my friend’s board every other day… lol
I got gyu’s on my 7’er, I’d go with something stiffer with bigger side templates, it tends to slide out on my backhand.
just copy the template of the fcs fins onto a peice of wood or sheet of glass and glass those on instead of cutting the tabs off, I don’t know how well polycarbonate would bond.

In that case have a fin maker copy the fin in question in glass…or do it yourself, its not that hard. Heckuva lot easier than making and glassing a board.
