An old friend from Santa Cruz recently gifted me with a beautiful 7’6" Haut single blade that has been stashed under his house for approximately 20 years. His memory is a bit hazy (as is often the case with old salts) and he can’t quite remember what year it was shaped. It’s a beaut: full down rails, ultra-narrow nose and tail, slight V entry to flat to V through the tail, opaque teal resin tint, and a glassed on wood fin. Only identifying number on the board is 41-181 hand written on the stringer. Anyone here have a clue as to it’s vintage?
nice story…
pics please
That describes perfectly a board stolen from me…Down to the serial #'s…I want it back…
Kidding…
The best way to obtain the information on the board is to call the Haut Shop in Santa Cruz. Ask if Susie Haut is there, and ask her about it. Doug has his order book, which goes far back, and she might be able to check out the number you are giving and give you the backround on the board.
Thanks for the suggestion, I called the Haut shop yesterday. Haha! Nice try PJ, but Suzie Haut confirmed that it was shaped for my friend in 1975. According to the receipt, he supplied the blank, Doug shaped it for free, and he paid $6 to have it laminated. Not a bad deal, huh? I’ll post some pics as soon as I get it cleaned up.
I’ll give you $12 for it
thats 200% profit for you!!!
LOL!! kidding
No dice! I’m looking forward drawing some clean lines on this thing
good for you, nice score
wheres the pic?
Sorry it took a while, but I wanted clean it up a bit before taking photos. Enjoy!
That board has a very pleasing outline
could you maybe share the dimentions?
7’6" and pretty foiled by 70’s standards. I’ll get some detailed dims this evening. I patched it up this weekend and I’m just waiting for the next clean overhead swell to give it a go.
The Hauts are such kind and classy people and Doug such a great shaper- it makes me really happy to see that board
