Have you seen this fin?

I have a couple of customers who are desperate to get their hands on a few of these fins.

From what they say it increases the speed and drive of any board they have put the fin into.

This fin was made in Australia and has a picture of a cartoon bee on it.

So if anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it.

I would also like hear some theories from you guys and girls as to the performance characteristics of such a fin design.

Thanks in advance.

Daren.

That design was invented by Velzy, a long time ago. Not sure where you can get them.

Also called a “butterfly” fin

Article on the origin, here:

Seems you can get them through the Velzy website. $125 US/ea

That’s one of the “slap on” stickers that I pulled off a snapped long board, couldn’t put it back on so I stuck it on my garbage bin. Every year we get tourists nearly crashing their cars when I put the bins.

Hey entity

My young bloke has that same sticker on the deck of his board.

Don’t know what he is thinking when paddling.

Cheers

Hey Daren, were you customers comments in relation to longboards ?

G’day Burnsie,

Nah, not longboards but mid lengths or mini-mals as they’re called here, from about 7-8’ in a thruster configuration, with an 8" fin box about 4" from the tail.

hi daz

as per our recent conversation , i asked ross the longboard shop guy here

he got them from tom [ken’s brother] vidler here ,

but now he’s solds them all, he won’t be getting any more

he said they spun out too much when he [ross] surfed them , even with side fins …

Thanks Ben, I might try the guys up the coast.

Last I remember the V fin is being made by Surftech so I’m assuming you should be able to hook up with the local ST rep and get them.
