So I dig the outline on these Hayden Shapes Atelier Performance Cruisers… anyone got one?
Anyone able to give me outline measurements every 3” or so for me to whip up a template?

If not, I have printed a plan shape photo then used a grid to enlarge by hand. Not perfect but good enough for surfboard putposes. I also think there’s an app for scaling measurements from photos, try a google search.

Hello, you can download the picture and trace the outline on any drawing/design software like inkscape for exemple and then scale it to size.
This softwares have the Magic wand tool or Path selector tool.

Attention some people tweak a bit the image on the website so you don’t do this, on that case instead of selecting the all image, choose the not tweaked side and then duplicate it.

I think there are YouTube videos on the subject.

You can always find someone on the beach with one and ask to draw the template into some cardboard.

Several years back I saw a board I really liked the shape of. It was called the Gherkin by DMS surfboards. I wanted a bigger version for myself, but wanted to model it after the Gherkin.

So I studied the photos, and drew a reasonable (but stretched out) facsimile on 1/4” grid paper. Then I drew a 3” grid on a piece of masonite, and used my grid paper drawing to scale it up 1/4” = 3”, so my board was 7’ 2”.

I actually ended up loving the board, but as I shifted to riding bigger boards, I tried to thin the herd a bit, and sold it. I still kinda miss that board, tho. Anyway, my point is, using old school technology (grid paper and pencil sketch), I got the end result I was after. With a bit of determination, it can be done.

I’ll add some photos, there is a build thread on the board, and a board archives entry.

You can use Ukushaper’s software to take a photo of the board and find all the dimensions. It’s reasonably priced and if you want you can get a file that is ready to program a cnc machine to mill it.
