Hazardous Materials- Volatile Oraganics

I’ve been making boards in my garage for two seasons. I need a good ventilation/filtration system that will help with the dust and fumes from work. I’ve researched lab supply companies, and such, but their equipment is too expensive. Does someone have a good alternative? Thanks…

To start with you need a good mask. Go to LabSafety supply, and check them out. Remember dust, and VOC require different filters. Next get a good wet dry shop vac. Sear is a good deal for one of them, or check yard sales. Use the shop vac when you are planeing, go back and look it up I’m sure there is a how to make a vacuum conection to your planer in there somewhere. Next you will only need a fan, to pull out the VOC, place the fan in the door on the floor and point it out. This will pull out the VOC. Or try epoxy and the VOC problem goes away.

a better way to go is a permanent exhaust fan installed into either the cieling of the garage or a wall. ot to expensive. I hik you could do it all for under $150 if you do it yourself.

You want the fan to be low. VOC are heavier then air so they tend to go down, not up.
