Oh yeah. Plenty of waves, but lots of slop too on the upper coast. Kind of blown out right now, hoping the high winds will die so it will clean up. South Padre took a direct hit from the Cat 2.
There was about a 3 hour window when it was fun… Yesterday when the swell was just coming up, from the time it started breaking on the second bar to the time it was breaking consistently on the third bar. That was fun. It was too windy to be great, but it was good. Once it started breaking consistently on the third bar it got pretty sloppy. The inside bar was still fun at that point, but I was lucky to be pretty surfed out by then. Nothing “special” from the perspective of folks used to regularly riding pacific surf, but it was the first real groundswell I’d been on since I was in Mex in Feb, so I was a happy boy.
Friday at nightfall has the potential to be a lot of fun with the falling swell and dropping wind… Too bad I’ll be at work then.
The winds should start backing off tonight and tomorrow. Light breeze the day after. Lots of spots might just light up.
Thursday afternoon/evening to Friday ? starting to look like a distinct possibility on MagicSeaWeed.
