Hello Jim Phillips,etc.--Hatteras board?

Since you know the East Coast so well, what would be the ideal all-around beachbreak longboard shape and dimension for Hatteras Island for everyday use. Nothing over the top, not a pure noserider, pure cruiser or pure performance–just something in-between, basic, easy and enjoyable. I’m 50 years old, 5’ 11", 180 lbs. (By the way, I owned two of your Phillips boards back around 1970 when I lived in Massachusetts. If my memory serves me well, they were really hot sticks for their time.)

Well thanks for the inquiry, Hatteras is usually juicier that most of the other beach breaks on the East coast. I find that you don’t need a lot of nose in steeper waves. Also more rocker works on these waves as they have a bit more speed. A floaty board is more of a hindrance on hollower waves. For your weight and height, I’d think 9’2"-9’6"x 2 7/8"-3"x 17 1/4 "- 17 3/4 "nose, 22 "- 22 3/4 "x 13 3/4 “- 14 1/2” . How’s that sound?
